i live in Toronto, and most of the chinese that settled here early on and built the old chinatowns
are from Hongkong, so it's super easy to find Cantonese restaurants.

lately the shift is to people from the northern capitol coming to office jobs so it is difficult
to find Běijīng cuisine without going to someone's house.

does anybody know any good Běijīng style restaurants in Toronto? for the record, Spicy Mama
isn't Běijīng style but the food is great!

There's Chinese Traditional Buns on Dundas West close to Kensington and Asian Legend on Dundas
West close to Bevereley. I've read good reviews for those restaurants but I haven't eaten there
before. I've been meaning to check them out, but now I'm on the other side of the world. Have you
tried the Markham / Agincourt area? I don't know about Norhern cuisine but I think the best
Chinese restaurants are there.

*sigh*...looks like my Taishan awareness program on this forum isn't going very well.

Thanks for the suggestions!
Traditional Chinese Buns
was Běijīng style only
the food was not great.

There are street vendors
in Běijīng who make better
except each street vendor
only makes one dish.

Asian legend is tài guì le
will wait for a special dinner.
Spicy Mama is in Markham
but they aren't Běijīng style.

my apologies for over-generalizing
the peoples of the Pearl River Delta.
the two old chinatowns in Toronto
both look and sound Cantonese...

I've been afraid to try the offerings from street vendors. They look and smell delicious though.
Does it cause digestive problems for foreigners (read: Western immune systems)? Shall I indulge
next time?
